For sumptuous luxury candles at an affordable price look no further than Sandy Bay London, viagra sale hand poured right here in the UK. I caught up with Sandy Burns to find out what inspired her new collection.

Hi Sandy, check I hope you are well. I was just wondering if you could tell me a bit more about your background as an interior designer? How would you describe your style?
Hi Amelia, order I’m great thank you! Firstly, I don’t have a trained background as an interior decorator, but it has always been a huge passion of mine coming from noticing small details and working on small projects. I have tried to translate my style into my candles which is an attention to detail, with the black gloss candles especially my style can be quite sensual and sexy.

What inspires Sandy Bay London and in particular what inspires your fragrances?
Sandy Bay London was born from my passion for home interiors and accessories and just loving the small spoilings in life. I think about what works well and I think of a setting, a destination or an occasion which giving me a diverse mixture of ideas and moods to work with for my candles.

Sandy Bay London

What differentiates Sandy Bay candles from other luxury candles?
Sandy Bay London candles have a different appeal because I see it as personal luxury. They are scents with ingredients that aren’t just a pretty fragrance, it’s the fusion and careful placement of these ingredients that make people feel relaxed and warm but most of all feel at home.

I particularly like the High Gloss Black candles. How important is the presentation of a candle?
It’s important that people like the look of Sandy Bay London as much as they like the scents and fragrances. Even when the candles are not lit they are going to be sat on a table or on a window sill, which is why presentation matters so much to me.

Where can interested customers buy Sandy Bay candles?
Currently they are only sold on my website, Sandy Bay London, but I’m hoping to branch out soon!

Do you have any plans to expand the range and if so can you tell us what we can expect from it?
I have so many ideas, so many great things I want to try out! I have been working on a champagne scented candle for a while now and it is almost ready, which is going to be great for Christmas, New Year’s Eve, and all kinds of celebrations. I am also looking into a gentlemen’s candle inspired by iconic images of the smoking jacket. As well as this I have a collaboration with Sarah Jones London to come up with a therapeutic range of candles since our products really complement each other.

So it’s a busy time for me right now!

Dominika Naziebly A/W 2010 by Joanne Oatts.

On Thursday night Andels Hotel hosted the Gala Graduate show of the Academy of Fine Arts, otherwise known as the Gala Dyplomowa, featuring top graduate fashion talent. We were ushered to the top floor of the hotel where the warehouse has retained its original huge proportions, big enough for a catwalk and plenty of seating. An utterly fabulous venue, and very convenient too…

Here, in alphabetical order (cos that’s the way it rolls) are the designers that showed:

Not speaking a word of Polish, I can’t be entirely sure, but I think that Olga Mieloszyk won the main award. Her Oranzeria collection was amongst my favourites: beautiful and wearable womens and menswear with intricate frills, panelling and pleated details in shades of orange and browns.

The show ended with a beautiful selection of sculpted evening dresses in sweetie shades by Karolina Glegula, except I am not sure I wrote down her name correctly: I did my best by squinting at the screen behind the catwalk since there was no information in written form to take away.

Find out more about the Golden Thread Awards in my previous blog post: it was certainly a night to remember: two solid hours of catwalk show!

Jaroslaw Ewert S/S 2012 by Joanne Oatts.

I raced to my first Off Out Of Schedule show at Fashion Week Poland as soon as I had got off the plane and dropped my suitcase at Andels. With dark eyes, paint splatters and tailored detailing in relaxed grey fabrics, Jarosław Ewert showed a typically Polish aesthetic for men and women alike, with eyelets and asymmetrical cuts providing extra interest for both. The last outfit came with a spike hemmed waistcoat in royal blue, a colour which the designer himself clearly favours.

Amelia’s Magazine | Fashion Philosophy Fashion Week Poland Off Out Of Schedule S/S 2012 in Łódź: Lukasz Stachowicz

Lukasz Stachowicz SS 2012 by Joanne Oatts
Lukasz Stachowicz S/S 2012 by Joanne Oatts.

Kraków based Lukasz Stachowicz showed a real winner of a collection: presented in an intriguing manner that culminated in a staged tableau. Titled Robinson, he took inspiration from a subsistence lifestyle that was accessorised with real fish, their bloody guts dripping down the catwalk. Crayfish were strung in decorative manner around necks, knitwear featured giant bees and fly fishing hooks stood in as scarf pins. Book-ending the models was a lad with a burning torch, who lit a mock fire in the centre which the models gathered around. Garments were rendered in shades of cream and beige, with rope details on shoulders and waist. I particularly liked a delicate fish print that appeared on swing skirts, shorts and shirts. The headwraps worn by girls were an echo of that worn by the musician, who played enigmatic notes to accompany Robinson on a flattened circular tin drum.

In researching Lukasz Stachowicz I have realised that I didn’t see his show last season but I had been most impressed by the clothes he presented on his stand at Fashion Week Poland. How fitting then that I should delight so much in his next collection too.

How do you know our lovely Lisa Stannard? One of the featured illustrators in my new book told me about you…
Lisa fluttered into my life by coincidence, sharing common friends and flowers. Her distinct laughter and lashes swift as butterflies’ wings made me curious. They say creative hearts draw to each other.

How did you growing up in a remote rural location affect your creativity?

How did you get from Sweden to London? There must have been some steps in between…
?A few years back I followed the path from Stockholm to Barcelona, where I met some of my first London friends. They persuaded me that London was the city for me. I started exploring this curious melting pot, and eventually moved here.

What was your previous band called and how would you describe it in three words?
I’ve been in many musical constellations, but only one traditional band before I decided to explore music on my own. It was called Popshop. I remember I didn’t really like that name, it made us sound like something plastic. Which we weren’t. But I liked my band. It was naïve, charming and a good learning curve.?

?You can never fully control your own destiny? But you can plant your creativity where it has the potential to grow freely, organic and unique. The trick is to find the right soil, and it took me a long time to get settled.

What happens on Camp Mozart? Are you planning to release other musician’s music too? Do you produce for others?
I write songs for others. Maybe because I like the challenge. And I hope to put out more music by other musicians but there will be a time and place for that.

How was the video made for Aquarius Dreams?
The video is made by Martyn Thomas from Stitch That. Martyn used stop motion techniques with each frame of film sketched by hand, then individually photographed against a backlight. It’s the work of a champion. Everything of flesh and blood in this video is sketched by hand like they are made up beings, whilst dead things like metal robots or lampshades looks perfectly real. I guess I’m trying to describe how it can be to get caught up in your own creativity and loose concept of reality.

What are you doing for the rest of your summer? Any recommendations?
I’m rehearsing my live set, supporting Portico Quartet in London in August. I’m slowly finishing my album with my co-producer Utters and I’m also working on some productions with Scratcha DVA for his next album. I’ve been travelling so much this spring that I’m going to try and stay put for a bit. Enjoy that I’m living in one of the most culture hectic capitals of the world, not too far away from some stunning nature scenery.
