Hannah Williams S/S 2014 by Naisya Suherman.
Following on from Helen Lawrence, Graduate Fashion Week innovation award winner Hannah Williams put together an exciting collection that drew gasps from the crowd: avante grade creations that revealed the imprints of gigantic zips, delicate embroidery, the neck opening of a shirt, draped necklaces and the outline of pockets and buttons. This trompe l’oeil effect was achieved by working in silicone, which is by all accounts an extraordinary substance. The garments themselves were loose and presumably quite wearable because of this (apart from one tight skirt which forced the poor model to hobble down the catwalk in her platforms) and came in a muted colour range of pale grey, cream, lilac and peach. Hannah herself wore a fetching toned down version of the silicone look for her turn on the catwalk, but I’m not convinced you’ll get me wearing it anytime soon. In the meantime I’ve got my eye on that rain proof shopper…
