The Art Car Boot Fair is back! And as usual the car park of the Truman Brewery will host the creme de la creme of the British art world – from the famous (Tracey Emin, Peter Blake, Mat Collishaw, Cornelia Parker, Jessica Albarn, Bob & Roberta Smith, Pam Hogg, Pure Evil, Polly Morgan, Carrie Reichardt) to the less well known but just as interesting. It's a great place to pick up a bargain, with lots of fun activities to take part in as you peruse the wares showcasesd from the back of cars.

Things I am looking forward to at the Art Car Boot Fair this year:

David David's You Bloody Egg Head game – participants will be invited to bash an egg with a mallet, and if it bleeds then you're a winner! Last year I bought one of their gorgeous signed prints for a bargain price… I wonder if I'll be tempted again this year?

'prawns a la cart' from Coins Junk Yard snack bar.
From the people who brought you Hot Breath Karaoke comes Coins Junk Yard Snack Bar “One man, a deep fryer and a shopping cart.” No, I know about as much as you, but since proprietor Mike Gabel (aided and abetted by wife Jennifer Earle) is endlessly inventive I am sure it will be a fun experience.

Notorious artistic duo The Girls have created a ‘Double Regina Experience’ inspired by Westminster Abbey’s haunting royal funeral effigies, seaside automata, and their exploration of the relative influence and power of Elizabeth I versus Elizabeth II. They’re selling exclusive and limited edition prints inspired by Double Regina and will be hosting a live interactive performance, whereby the public can enter a private realm and have their fortunes told by royalty. There will also be a selection of other regal self-portraits and royal memorabilia, postcards and a new unique oil paintings available.

Sir Peter Blake – Tax Disc – 2012

Polly Morgan – Octopus Taxidermy Pheasant – 2012
The Handbag Disco is a ticketed event in support of Just for Kids Law charity. In exchange for a £10 ticket customers will have the chance to win a sought-after handbag worth up to thousands of pounds. The ticketed event will see DJ’s including Gaz Mayall (from Gaz’s Rocking Blues), musician and artist Wildcat Will, performance poet Murray Lachlan Young and more providing the soundtrack to a 70’s style disco where customers boogie down around handbags hidden in cloth bags. A coveted designer bag will be hidden amongst the bags and when the music stops, grab a bag for the chance to take home a stunner. The disco opens at 12.30 and runs until the fair finishes.

Jessica Albarn – Bee Seeds – 2012

Mat Collishaw – Insecticide – 2012
The Bethnal Green Working Men’s Club will once again host an informal entertainment stage and there will be plenty of food and drink stalls, including St John’s Bread & Wine and Nude Espresso. Plus so much more! Read my review of last year's Art Car Boot Fair right here.
Tickets are available on the door for just £3. More info on the Art Car Boot Fair website.
