Our friends over at Just Do It have thought of an innovative way to raise money for the final stretch of essential film promotion (read more about Just Do It: a tale of modern-day outlaws, here): they've enlisted some top subverting artists to create artwork for auction. One of them is the very wonderful Carrie Reichardt, who I first discovered at 123 Bethnal Green Road and is definitely on my list of ones to watch.
She has donated the piece above: Riot Here Riot Now, which is a print from her latest show, Mad in Britain. Carrie also has a royal memorabilia mug in the auction, as well as the same Riot Here Riot Now print in pink (available in the third round of the auction). The print is signed & stamped with her official “you got to fight for your right to be arty” embossed stamp – a very rare edition.
Yes, a bit more about the rounds: the auction will run in three separate lots so if you don’t win the art you want first time round, there’ll be two further chances to bid for something else. Some artists have donated more than one piece of work, so if someone outbids you, why not try again. If at first you don’t succeed…and all that..
Other contributions come from the film's art director Dr D, The Krah, John Wild, Mike Marcus, kennardphillipps, War Boutique, Bastardilla and Know Hope. There's also the chance to nab yourself a special edition limited run Just Do It print, made possible by the wonderful Calverts.
So go on, join in; place your bid, support this totally independent project and win some great art while you're at it. The first round is live NOW. You can find Just Do It on Ebay here. The website for Just Do It is here.
