Anarchidinner: An Experimental Banquet will be presented to Barbican guests of the Garden Room on Thursday 28th April. Inspired by performance pieces by guest chefs at Gordon Matta-Clark's 1970s experimental restaurant Food, the Companis group from Birmingham have previously staged Bone Dinner which was loosely based on Food's Bone Meal experiment, and took place in November 2010.

For Anarchidinner they will be challenging preconceptions of the 21st century idea of dinner. Presented in collaboration with a chef from Searcys catering, it will feature artists preparing a sculptural meal using hand and power tools. Here's hoping it's not too meatilicious (see above!)

Find out more information about Companis, follow them on twitter, and make sure you get clued up first by reading my review of Pioneers of the Downtown Scene, New York 1970s. See also Barbican Theatre: More Soup and Tart on Friday 15th April.

Tickets start at £30 and are available online here with more information on the Barbican website.
