Back to Basics workshop

A range of gifts and cards from local design talent will be available at the Valentine’s pop-up shop, running for one day only in Bethnal Green. Check it out for unique gifts ahead of the upcoming V-day, or if you’d rather make your own, Back to Basics can help you with that too.

The Bethnal Green group is running a series of Valentine’s-themed workshops – starting with the ‘Kitsch Valentine’ card- and badge-making seminar on 2nd February. Monday 7th is making your own shift dress, followed by Valentine’s cupcake decorating on the 10th. On the 12th you can learn to crochet a heart, or those wanting to apply their domestic skills in a somewhat different manner should check out the lingerie masterclass on the 13th.

Soon to change its name to The Create Place, Back to Basics is a community arts and crafts initiative, run by volunteers as part of the St Margaret’s House programme. This means a part of each purchase will go to the Back to Basics project, providing free crafting workshops for the local community. The group also sources most of its materials second-hand.

We will be swinging by the pop-up shop, as well as probably trying out one of the workshops too, so watch out for our article.

Visit the Back to Basics pop-up shop on 5th February, at 29 Old Ford Road, London E2 9PJ. See the website for more workshop details.
