Who could resist the opportunity to delve into subterranean London? Not I! Which is why the news of a recently unearthed labyrinth beneath London's Waterloo Station is the cause of great excitement. Not to mention the whispered words involving intriguing events happening within space now known as The Old Vic Tunnels. Tomorrow (12th October 2010) sees the opening of Hell's Half Acre, The Old Vic's collaboration with Lazarides Gallery.

For the next five days only, the tunnels will resemble a large scale replica of Dante's Inferno. Walking through the nine circles of hell, the audience will encounter the contributions of many artists: George Osodi, Antony Micallef, Polly Morgan, Jonathan Yeo, Conor Harrington and Doug Foster are but a few of the artists included.

Brilliantly, Hell's Half Acre is described by Steve Lazarides, owner of Lazarides Gallery as “a vision of our hellish society under coalition rule, inspired by Dante's inferno.”

Hell's Half Acre opens on October 12th and runs until 17th October 2010.

Do not miss the first in what is promised to be a series of groundbreaking installations!
