Tattoo Face by Julie Cockburn.
Last year Jessica Stokes wrote a glowing review of the Jerwood Drawing Prize and this year it was myself who attended the private view over at the Jerwood Space, which is in Union Street not far from Tower Bridge. This is the “country's leading award for drawing” – though the meaning of drawing in this context is pretty darn flexible. From 3000 entries the resulting 70 short listed artists are on display in this wonderful airy space, and if you're an illustrator or artist it really is a must see exhibition. Contributing artists include Cathy Lomax of the Transition Gallery (read an interview here), Clare Petherick and Raji Salan.
