Next week I have been asked to judge a Blog Slam – and you may well be asking yourself, what the devil is that for god's sake? Well I know I did.
Well, it turns out that this event is the brainchild of the folks from German based Circus Bookazine (who you may remember interviewed me awhile back) and on Weds 22nd September I shall be bopping on down to the Rag Factory which handily happens to be just off Brick Lane on Heneage Street.

It's a concept based on the idea of poetry slams – but instead of performing poetry the contestants will perform their own blog post live in front of an audience. We are to judge them on “originality, concept, delivery and, of course, blogability.” I'm hoping quite how I do this will become apparent on the night – for of course delivering a good blog, or blogability, might be quite different from the ability to deliver an engaging performance. But then again maybe not… because I'm a firm believer that the best bloggers and blog posts come from individuals who exhibit a strong sense of individuality so that they stand out amongst a whole wide web of information competing for attention.

Now whether I'll be able to come up with some insightful and witty reposts in the style of the X-Factor judges (albeit less unkindly) is another matter entirely.
If you'd like to come along and watch the whole event take place then get your RSVPs in – more info to be found here, make sure you click on the English link at the top of the page. Come and see how both the bloggers and me get along: all are welcome.
