Stitches in Time is a community development charity based in Old Limehouse Town Hall, and this year hosts a second annual Winter Makers Market to support its charitable activities and provide a platform for local designers, makers, and community groups to offer their tantalising wares just in time for the upcoming season.
In addition Stitches in Time will host an Anonymous Art Sale, with the chance to snap up a potentially priceless piece of art by one of several famous artists, including Alison Wilding RA and Janette Kerr PRWA, or indeed just in at the time of going to press, local East End heroes Sir Ian McKellan and Danny Boyle! Proceeds of this go to support our FabricWorks programme – a valuable textile production social enterprise for London designers that works to overcome womens barriers into employment. For many of the women who have attended the classes and training this will be the first chance they've had to earn some money for themselves. Ceramicist Jessica Joslin will be offering her wares, as will Wild Sage & Co and many other talented designers and local makers.
Expect beautiful handmade art and crafts, authentic local Bangladeshi and Moroccan food, and of course mulled wine. Come replenish on a blustery day, and make a traditional Bangladeshi পুতুল Putul doll, or get your child to make one for you, as you browse. More entertainment will be announced on the twitter and facebook event page, including local choir performances and a secret special guest lined up which means good cheer will (probably) be in abundance. See you there!
Opening times: 5pm-9pm Fri; 10am-5pm Sat; 10am-5pm Sun
