Hungarian artist Mari Mahr combines photographs and drawings with assemblages of familial objects to construct visual narratives or evoke the atmosphere of a particular time or place. From images of communist Hungary and imagined scenes of 1920s America, to her most recent body of work which explores her relationship with her late husband, Mahr’s highly original work addresses universal concerns providing viewers with insights into the personal and cultural influences in her life.
This exhibition at The Photographers' Gallery will bring together six of the artists series including the new series Inventory of Ourselves (2013).
