The Blood Bag Project
Illustration of Chloe by Leigh Bowser

The Blood Bag Project is curated by Leigh Bowser, conceived after her niece Chloe was diagnosed with Diamond Blackfan Anaemia. The project aims to raise awareness of the rare blood condition through craft, allowing those to help with the cause who cannot personally donate blood. Leigh is kindly calling on artists to adorn a blood bag only using textiles. The goal is to have 100 bags by the 31st August.

You can download your free blood bag template via the website if you’d like to take part, but please check with Leigh via the contact page first. There will be an exhibition at the Lawrence Batley Theatre in Huddersfield on 8th-9th September. The bags will be up for auction after this date (tbc) with all the profits split between The National Blood Donation Service and The Anthony Nolan Trust. Find out what's already been submitted here.
