Showing now: Electric Crazyland, the first solo show from Tiff McGinnis, otherwise known as Grande Dame and formerly known as Crazygirl (under which pseudonym she featured in my first ever print issue of Amelia's Magazine.)
Tiff will be showcasing animations, prints, plates and an assortment of other goodies at this exhibition, including her latest collaboration with neon artist Chris Bracey of Gods Own Junkyard, with whom she has created some psychedelic lights.
She is a self-taught audio and visual artist who specializes in Technicolor. Her artwork is influenced by pinball art, art deco, vintage comics, Fillmore East posters, indigenous art & more, but Tiff manages to mix up these different genres to create a unique style completely her own.
Most of Tiff’s images originate from her animations, which have been screened globally. She has animated for EMI, MTV Networks, Nickelodeon, UK’s Channel 4, KPM Music, and more. In a short span of time Tiff’s intensely coloured giclée prints have gained support from collectors worldwide. You may remember that we profiled her gorgeous porcelain plates (made with Wedgwood) on Amelia's Magazine last year. So want one, and this could be your chance to lay your hands on one too! Next up: Tiff McGinnis will be collaborating with legendary couture shoe designer Terry de Havilland for a special S/S 2013 collection. Can't wait to see what that relationship brings.
Grande Dame is showing at Ketchum Pleon until the 27th April 2012: plenty of time to wander along and check out her inimitable wares. The gallery is open between 10am-5pm on weekdays.
