I am very excited about the upcoming exhibition from one time Amelia's Magazine contributor Serge Seidlitz, known for his creation of complex line drawn other worlds. From October 24th – November 4th Serge V's Spaceship Earth will land at the Coningsby Gallery in central London, featuring his instantly recognisable artwork. But what's so special about this particular show is that Serge's art will be splashed across more than the usual screenprints.
Also on display will be rugs that have been hand woven to fair trade specifications in Nepal by the Kumbeshwar Technical School of Katmandhu, where employees are taught literacy and skills and the money they make supports a school of 260 children and a small orphanage of 19. There are also limited edition t-shirts and perhaps best of all, an armchair upholstered in Serge Seidlitz designed fabric. From afar the fabric looks like many others… but get up close and you'll discover that it features plenty of intriguing things, such as planes, buildings with eyes, grasping hands, mini skulls and much more. Now that's what I call surface design!
