The fantastically named Haberdashery East opened on Friday 9th September at Rough Trade East. It's a collaborative pop up shop within a shop, curated by Prick Your Finger and Technology Will Save Us.
Prick Your Finger is a yarn shop based in Globe Road that is also a gallery and an educational space where the DIY ethic reigns supreme. Prick Your Finger will be selling Chicken Bone Toggles, Felt Sets and Denim Patches, Knit Your Own Hat Scarf and Hat Kits, all with a distinct Rough Trade twist. They will be hosting a Wrist & Headband workshop on 11am Sunday October 2nd, complete with lyrics and/or slogans.
Technology Will Save Us encourage people to create new technology by repurposing old technology rather than remaining mere passive consumers. Technology Will Save Us will be selling DIY speakers kits, Make Your Own musical instrument kits, Arduino microcontrollers, Sparkfun kits and USB rechargeable batteries. On 28th September you can Learn How to Make a Lumiphone, a strange little musical device.
Workshop tickets go on sale at Rough Trade East from Friday September 9th.
