Brainlove festival 2011
Festival time is almost upon us once more, though the April heatwave in the UK appears to have jumped the gun a bit. If you’re looking for something a little leftfield and you don’t want to worry about whether to pack your suntan lotion or your wellies, you could do worse than to head down to South London.

Taking over Brixton’s Windmill for the day, the Brainlove Festival is once again setting up shop, and there will be a choice selection of bands on offer. Top draws are Edinburgh’s Meursault, who caused a bit of a stir last year with their album All Creatures Will Make Merry, along with Amelia’s Magazine favourite Napoleon IIIrd, currently touring his critically acclaimed second LP, Christiania.

Other bands currently confirmed include indie-rock four piece Bear Driver, the lo-fi Mat Riviere, Cardiff’s own wonk-pop wonder Pagan Wanderer Lu, the intriguing Bastardgeist and the evocative-sounding Patterns. Meanwhile, on the wheels of steel you’ll be able to hear Dreamtrak Diamond Sound (aka producer Oli Horton) and festival curator John Brainlove, whilst there will be some live VJing from Broken Pixel, otherwise known as video producer Ashley Dean. We interviewed him here.

Tickets are on sale for a mere £10 as we speak and, oh, did I mention that there will be a free barbecue too?
