We visited The Boom Boom Club at the Bath House back in October, and were most impressed – read our review here. We’re keen to see what the cabaret stars have come up with this time, especially as the fabulous Dusty Limits will again compere at the event.
The Eve of Tomorrow Ball is hosted by Ronald Frend’s Electric Corporation, a ‘shadowy multi-national whose origins remain shrouded in mystery’. The event is inspired by the World Fairs of the 1930s, with its old world charm and high hopes for technological advancements for the future. The event will see the launch of fictional products and services promising to be the shape of things to come, including anachronistic prototypes of the iPod, liquid nitrogen ice cream, robotic waiters, machines that predict the future, the world’s first pinball machine, and a New Year’s breakfast.
The line-up includes burlesque queen Miss Polly Rae, ‘unruly’ showgirl Kitty Bang Bang and crystal ball juggling genius Matt Hennem. Also on the bill is unicyclist Count Adriano Fettucini, circus artists Bedlam Oz and award-winning illusionist Marisa Carnesky. Flapper troupe The Bee’s Knees promises an electro take on old-skool swing, while music is provided by among others My Gosh Marvellous, a Big Band performing contemporary hits in old styles.
Dress code is ‘1930s grand evening wear, socialites, industrialists, millionaires and adventurers’ – the location will be made known to attendees a week before. If this sounds like your thing, get your tickets here: The Boom Boom Club or White Mischief.
