When someone says ‘Jersey’, what do you think of? A VAT-free island? Cows feeding on lucious green grass to produce rich yellow butter and creamy milk? What about Branchage Film Festival? OK, well perhaps not yet but read on and in the future, you will…
Launched in 2008, Branchage (pronounced “Bron-carge”) is a unique film festival supporting thriving new talent, set in the beautiful surroundings of Jersey. Featuring site-specific live sound-tracking, music and film screenings, what makes this festival special is its marriage of each of the above with an unusual venue on the island to create a memorable and exciting cinematic experience.
Shifting 4,000 tickets in its opening year, Branchage Film Festival looks set to generate the same pulling power in 2010 with a cracking line-up and film screenings in quirky locations, including the Old War Tunnels, Mont Orgueil Castle and Opera House. Expect to see Euros Childs and Richard James (from Gorkys Zygotic Mynci) performing live to Russian fairy tale animations, a 48-hour music video challenge, a 3D musical light show at Val de la Mar, and plenty more.
So if you fancy one final long cultural weekend away for the year as the summer festival season draws to a close, get yourself over to Jersey. Go on…treat yourself…you know you want to…
Tickets purchased in September: £69
Tickets purchased during festival (23-26 September): £79
