Those of you familiar with issue 10 of Amelia's Magazine will no doubt have admired the fabulous front cover image, created my MessyMsxi. Well, you can now admire more of her work at the Summer Showcase 2010 group show put on by Candid Arts Trust, running from 13-18 July. The showcase features works by Manjyot Ghataora, ceramics from Consuelo S. Radclyffe, Chris Ball, Lisa Collins, Jack Wilson, furniture by Limahl Asmall, as well as new work from MessyMsxi that was created for her first solo exhibition in Singapore in April 2010.

“So often in life we are used to seeing people praised and celebrated for their successes but we rarely even get an inkling of the pain and suffering they have endured. Using the training life of Acrobats to express this idea of behind-the-scenes training; the idea of having to try and try harder and harder again.

As an audience, all we ever see are the acrobats performing all sorts of acts in perfection and grace but we have never seen them or been backstage, where the real performance is – the training to achieve the seemingly impossible.

Ten Years Of Work For Every Minute On Stage is an outright documentation of: failure, process, training, suffering, bruising, determination and a toast to 'the beginner’s spirit'. It serves as a reminder that success never comes easy and it's the journey that builds character. It is a series seeking to encourage all who are in difficulty, to remind everyone who trudge the tough road that it will be worth it in the end.”
