Fam Irvoll A/W 2013 by Dom & Ink.
It’s always fun when a designer shakes up the usual catwalk routine, and that is exactly what Fam Irvoll did with You Only Live Once, sending a bunch of street cast kids with attitude down the catwalk to throw some serious shapes for the photographers. Girls wore lip liner with NYC club kid cornrows, tall beanies and kiss curls, the words YOLO, LOL and YO attached in speech bubbles at their waists, knees and ankles. Boys wore backwards baseball caps on top of their 90s curtains, plastic eyeball earrings swinging from their ears.

The collection had an illustrative feel, with hand drawn faces in various styles emblazoned across leggings, shirts and jackets in turquoise and pinks that gave a refreshing lift to the monochrome basics. The catwalk show ended with a live rap performance, complete with enthusiastic dancing from Fam and models.

Fam Irvoll sure likes to mix it up: we missed last season’s super girlie show, featuring sweet red lips, puff hair, poodles and heart accessories, but the season before she did the monster mash with 3D knitwear. For A/W 2013 she has fallen in love with brightly patterned 90s casual wear; If you like in your face fashion with a humorous edge, then Fam is your girl.
