The 11th edition of Europe’s most anticipated music festival is bigger and bolder than ever, with a day and night programme of showcases and concerts that is going to take over the entire city of Barcelona from Friday 13th to Sunday 29th May, in addition to the regular warm-up gigs at the Poble Espanyol on Wednesday 23rd and Sunday 29th, that this year feature Jap noise grrrl band Nisennenmondai and Mercury Rev’s mezmerizing rock, among others.

But what everybody is truly looking forward to is the 3-day festival taking place at el Parc del Forum from Thursday 26th to Saturday 28th May with one of the most immense line-ups my eyes have been able to see, spanning from avant-garde sacred monsters such as Glenn Branca Ensemble and Arto Lindsay, to timeless stars the likes of Brit icons Pulp and ‘synth-punk’ legends Suicide, playing next to contemporary alt-idols Animal Collective and Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti.

The UK are going to be represented by some of the finest exponents of its variegated musical heritage from the past, the present and the future. Highly recommended are no wave avant-garde wizards The Monochrome Set, the already mentioned iconic Pulp and the evergreen PJ Harvey; plus, the new breed of UK music scene Factory Floor, Male Bonding and Comet Gain.

I could go on forever about the amazing Primavera Sound line up. The truth is, the line-up is just so great that recommendations are worth nothing. Just play it by ear, you will hardly go wrong!

Tickets for the full festival are 180€ (totally worth it!). All the info can be found on Primavera Sound website.
