Mechanical Bride returns with the new single To The Fight, a beautiful slice of dramatic indie folk that Bat For Lashes fans will adore.
The track is released today on Transgressive and comes accompanied with an enigmatic video of singer songwriter Lauren Doss running along the streets of Saltdean on the Sussex coast, then rushing out across the open fields before slowing to a pace on the beach. The concept for the video came from Lauren and is based on the fabled run of the Greek soldier Pheidippides, a messenger from the Battle of Marathon. He ran hundreds of miles in two days to deliver the message of battle victory – it was a physical battle of the body, demanding duration, determination and strength. Lauren ran from town to sea in the course of a day, finding herself at rest in a peaceful place that itself is yet another obstacle. To The Flight was directed by Fabio Youniss and Lauren. It is the third single to be taken from the stunning jazz inflected Living with Ants album, which we reviewed some months ago.
